A look into some new and old favourite makeup purchases. Here we look at the beautifully natural brand Kosås.

Hi, hello and welcome to my first blog post for Palette. I recently treated myself to some makeup shopping (good old retail therapy) and thought going through the products I bought would be the perfect start. I love divulging into makeup purchases and chatting about makeup to anyone who will listen (thank you to those who do!) so get ready to hear about some new and old favourite products I’ve purchased. I found out I love talking about makeup so much that I’ve had to break up this post into three parts…so here’s part 1. Enjoy!

KOSÅS COLOUR & LIGHT POWDER PALETTE IN PAPAYA 1972 (LEFT-$49) AND COLOUR & LIGHT CREME PALETTE IN VELVET MELON (RIGHT-$49)

I have been eyeing off these aesthetically satisfying palettes from the brand Kosås for quiet some time now and I finally caved and handed over my money. Kosås is a natural makeup brand that uses botanical-based formulas to create lux, comfortable and wearable products that are meant to enhance your natural beauty…um sign me up!

The warm shades instantly drew me in as these are the tones I gravitate to most for my complexion, especially for that ‘summer-time-tanned’ look. I originally had my eyes on their bronzer shade but I already have some lovely cream bronzer formulas (think Hourglass and Nudestix) that I’m working through. So that left me with their beautiful ‘juicy peach’ hue. But honestly, I couldn’t decide between the powder and crème option. So as one does, I purchased both. My intentions are to used the cream formula on more natural makeup days and the powder blush when I know I want a bit more pigment and longevity. I can even use these products on top of each other. Kosås have such lovely natural ingredients (rosemary excract, moringa oil and jojoba oil to name a few) and are cruelty free so they’re a great option for people looking for a brand with a great ethos.

First Impressions

Really impressed. The powder palette in “Papaya 1972” is my perfect blush colour. I’ve worn it a few times now and I can easily see it becoming a new go to product because it wears beautifully throughout the day and brings a new boost of life to my face. The powder highlight is equally as beautiful, it’s a lovely natural highlight that also beams under direct sunlight. The cream palette is also beautiful but it has more of an emollient texture so it doesn’t dry down on the cheeks, which can be annoying if you touch your face. I find these kind of formulas look stunning on the face (my face has never looked more alive and glossy) but they don’t wear as long or as well as powder products. So that’s just something to keep in mind. The cream highlight is also just “wow, my skin-but-better-and-glossy” material (I believe all the palettes have the same highlight so you’ll have it no matter which colour you choose). Between the two, I prefer the powder and will be reaching for it more often.

KOSÅS TINTED FACE OIL ($61)

To follow the Kosås theme, I picked up their Tinted Face Oil in the shade 3 as I’ve heard lots of people raving about it and asking for it to stocked in Mecca. This product is a mix between skincare and makeup and promises to be feather-light, radiance boosting and skin perfecting…all things that I look for in a complexion product. This tinted oil gives off a sheer, buildable coverage that is recommended to be applied with the hands, a method which I actually prefer with these kinds of tinted products. I was told I only needed to used a few drops of this for my whole face and this is how I have been applying it. I dispense a small amount on my (clean) fingers and massage it into my skin. I then apply more of the product to areas on my face that may need a bit more coverage.

First Impressions

In the short amount of time using this product, I can say that the formula is indeed traceless but is more for those natural makeup days. I like to use this as a nice way to even out my complexion and then go in and spot conceal with a concealer close to my skin tone to give me more coverage. This offers a nice natural base that will take you through your day looking fresh and luminous. If you like full coverage, this product isn’t for you unfortunately. Also something to note: I had this base on when I went to the gym one afternoon and I noticed that a lot of it sweated off and came off my towel, I guess because it is an oil (this has happened to me before with my lighter coverage bases, just not as much as this time). So that’s something to keep in mind if you’re wearing this product out on a hot day when you could be sweating.
